Opening Night
Well, not even time to get my work done in the last two weeks, much less keep up with my journal. Tonight Dracula openned, and I think everything went very well. We didn’t nail it, but for essentially a final dress, the energy was up and we certainly had the audience right where we wanted them. I shouldn’t have gone out with the cast afterward, but I was too wired to go to bed, and too tired to get any work done. I think I’ll try to get this finished tomorrow after I get my reports turned in and my
Survived to another Wednesday
My week actually runs from Wednesday to Wednesday. The weekend is just a prolonged planning period. I read many years ago about a study where someone monitored the testosterone levels of sports fans during the course of a game, and then after a victory and after a loss. Unsurprisingly, testosterone levels reach a high point after a win, and a low after a loss. So, with the Cubs completely blowing a golden opportunity to reach the post-season for consecutive years (it would have been the first time since the ’08 season), I’ve just about turned into a woman. LP slept for most of the first 3 hours, and then was quite content to watch the scenery go by for the rest of the trip. Entering Chicago sucked, since once again we see the complete innadequacy of the infrastructure for the third largest city in the US. But it’s ok, cause Mayor Daley has fought hard to give us pretty parks. At the cost of billions. Five years late. But this is not to be a political rant. I’m
On the road again. . .
Well, other than the Cubs blowing what little chance was left for the postseason, the weekend has begun to lift the pall of another L–O–N–G work week. For the first 2.5 hours, MLW and I listened to David Sedaris reading Barrel Fever. He may be one of the funniest performers of this decade. My son didn’t take a nap today, and he’s in his seat totally cracking himself up by growling and making nonsense noises. Punchy in a 2 year old is really funny. He’s got about 3 hours to get a nap in before we hit Cincinnati. There goes the switch
