Survived to another Wednesday
My week actually runs from Wednesday to Wednesday. The weekend is just a prolonged planning period.
I read many years ago about a study where someone monitored the testosterone levels of sports fans during the course of a game, and then after a victory and after a loss. Unsurprisingly, testosterone levels reach a high point after a win, and a low after a loss. So, with the Cubs completely blowing a golden opportunity to reach the post-season for consecutive years (it would have been the first time since the ’08 season), I’ve just about turned into a woman. Thank goodness for my Fantasty Football team.
After a weekend in Cincy, it’s time to gear up for a weekend in St. Louis. MLW and I will be driving overnight Thursday/Friday to get there in time to help the bride with some setup stuff. Of course, I haven’t asked the obvious question, “How useful will we be on Friday after essentially pulling an all-nighter?” Ah, well. Another opportunity to see old friends. Most of these friends will be people that we’ve seen more consistently. From our group, these friends belong more to my wife than to me, (where our Cincy friends were mostly friends that I brought to our collection).
Tonight is the night where I’ll really decide whether or not this community theater group will be worth the hassle of joining. If certain actors still haven’t gotten their heads out of their assess about lines, I think I’ll have to kill someone. I know that this is not professional, but damnit, have some pride! Tonight we’ll be glibbing the script, or speaking our lines and moving at triple-time. I have a feeling that more than one of us is going to wind up having our butts kicked by this process.
